American Roulette

Roulette is a game of chance and consists of a Roulette wheel and table. This game of Roulette is based on the American style of Roulette. It is played on a wheel which consists of thirty-eight slots, each with its own number , including 1 to 36, a 0 and a 00.

The goal in a game of American Roulette is to guess which number the ball will land on as it spins on the wheel. Once the player places a bet on the table, the dealer then releases a small ball on to the spinning wheel and then the wheel rotates. If the ball lands on the number, colour or combination of numbers that you have bet on, you will win! The house edge and the payoffs are different for different types of bets so depending on the type of bet you have made, your wager will be returned to you at different rates. It all depends on the type of bet you have placed and the odds of that specific bet.

Betting rules in the inner betting area differs from that of the outer betting area. Explained below is an explanation of each of these betting strategies and you can see that they are dealt with corresponding payout amounts.

American Roulette Inside Bets

The inside bets are made up of specific numbers or combinations of numbers within the number layout.

Straight bets

This is when you bet on one particular number on the wheel coming up. This bet is done by placing a chip on top of the number on which you want to bet. You can bet on any number, including 0 and 00. If that number wins, the payoff is 35 to 1.

Split bets

You can place a single bet on two adjacent numbers (on the line that divides the 2 numbers). To do so put your chips down on the line between them. Payoff is 17 to 1.

Street Bet

This is a horizontal row of three numbered spaces. To bet on a row of three numbers (a street), place a chip on the boundary line of the roulette table, at the end of the corresponding row. Payoff is 11 to 1.

Corner Bet

Place a bet on the line at the intersection of any four numbers (it is a bet placed on the corner where any four numbers meet). If the ball lands on one of the four numbers, then you win. Payoff is 8 to 1.

Five bet

A five bet covers the following numbers: 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3 (this is when you place a bet between the adjacent streets of ‘zero' and ‘1'). You need to place the chip on the outer right boundary line of the roulette table, between 0 and 1. Payoff is 6 to 1.

Six Line Bet or Line Bet

This is when you place a bet on six numbers (2 rows of 3 numbers), placed at the end of two rows on the line between them (If you place the bet at the end of two streets, on the line between them, covering all the numbers in either street). Payoff is 5 to 1.

American Roulette Outside Bets

An outside bet on a roulette board is simply when the bets are placed 'outside' of the main playing area of 38 numbers.

Red or Black Bet

To bet red or black you need to place chip(s) in the red or black boxes to cover all red or all black numbers. Each colour covers 18 numbers and if the ball lands on any number that corresponds to your chosen colour, you win. The Payoff is 1:1

Even/Odd

This is a bet on all even numbers or on all odd numbers. You can choose to place a bet on the even box (all even numbers) or the odd box (all odd numbers). The payoff is 1 to 1.

High/Low

This is a bet on whether the winning number will be in the low half (1-18) or the high half (19-36). The payoff is 1-to-1.

Column Bet

If you make a bet by placing your chip at the end of a column in the corresponding 2 for 1 box to cover all 12 numbers in the column and the ball lands on any of the 12 numbers in the column, you win. The Payoff is 2:1.

Dozens Bet

This is very similar to the columns bet. It lets you place a bet on either the first dozen numbers (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36). The Payoff is 2:1

European Roulette

European Roulette is played using a wheel containing 37 numbered slots (1-36, plus a 0). European Roulette has the same objective as American roulette: to predict which number the ball will land on but out of a possible 37 rather than 38 like in American Roulette.

It is possible to place 10 types of bets but you must bare in mind that like American Roulette each kind of bet covers a certain range of numbers, and also has its own payoff rate.

To win, the player needs to correctly guess which number will win. He/she will be paid according to the payoffs which are stated in the explanations of each type of bet below. The amount you will win is based on how many chips you have covering all or part of the winning number.

French Roulette

Roulette is a game of chance and consists of a Roulette wheel and table. This game of Roulette is based on the French style of Roulette. It is played on a wheel which consists of thirty-six slots, each with its own number , from 1 to 36 and a 0.

The goal in a game of French Roulette is to guess which number the ball will land on as it spins on the wheel. Once the player places a bet on the table, the dealer then releases a small ball on to the spinning wheel and then the wheel rotates. The main advantage when playing French Roulette is something called “La Partage”. The players of even bets only lose half the amount bet if the ball lands on the zero. So basically, the player odds in French roulette are lower than the odds in American roulette.

Roulette Royale

Roulette Royale is a progressive jackpot game and it is here that you could win a big jackpot for just one spin of the wheel. Roulette Royale is based on the standard European style roulette.

American roulette wheels have two 0's (double-zero), which increase the house edge considerably. In European roulette there is only one zero, giving the player better odds. Click HERE to read more about European Roulette.
